On May 12， a delegation led by John McCourt， Rector of University of Macerata （UniMC）， Italy， visited Shandong University．
5月12日，意大利馬切拉塔大學（University of Macerata， UniMC）校長約翰·麥考特（John McCourt）率團訪問山東大學。
Yi Fan， Vice President of Shandong University， stated that as both China and Italy has an ancient civilization， UniMC and Shandong University share many similarities in key disciplines such as humanities and social sciences， and have broad prospects for cooperation． The present cooperation signing aims to implement the consensus reached between the leaders of China and Italy and the results of the China－Italy University Rectors Dialogue held in November 2024， with a view to deepening the practical cooperation between the two universities in areas such as inter－civilizational dialogue and interdisciplinary research， he added．
山東大學副校長易凡表示，中意兩國同為文明古國，兩校在人文社科等重點學科也有諸多相似之處，合作前景廣闊。本次簽約是落實2024年11月中意兩國元首共識與中意大學校長對話會的成果，希望兩校在文明對話、跨學科研究等方面進一步推動務實合作。
John McCourt provided an overall introduction to UniMC， particularly noting how the university advances innovative development and transformation in teaching and research while maintaining its strengths in humanities and social sciences． He said， UniMC hopes to strengthen exchanges with Shandong University in advantageous disciplines such as linguistics， literature and archaeology and collaborate with Shandong University in establishing distinctive programs， aiming to deepen cultural exchange and mutual learning between the two countries．
麥考特介紹了馬切拉塔大學概況，特別是學校在堅守人文與社會科學學科優勢的基礎上，積極推進教學和科研的創新發展與轉型實踐。他表示，希望與山東大學在語言學、文學、考古等優勢學科領域加強交流，打造特色亮點項目，共促中意文明交流互鑒。
Yi Fan and John McCourt signed a memorandum of understanding （MoU） on cooperation on behalf of their respective universities． According to the MoU， both universities will fully tap cooperation potential in areas such as faculty and student exchanges and joint scientific research， and build a platform for diverse cultural exchanges．
易凡與麥考特代表兩校簽署合作諒解備忘錄。根據備忘錄，雙方將在師生互訪、聯合科研等方面深挖合作潛力，搭建多樣人文交流平臺。
In addition， the Italian delegation visited the Center for Research and Experience of Traditional Chinese Culture of Shandong University． Responsible persons of the School of Foreign Languages ＆ Literature， the College of International Education and the Department of International Affairs of Shandong University participated in related activities． （Source： Jinan Licheng District Convergence Media Center）
