Her name is Gao Guiying, an inheritor of dough figurine-making, an intangible cultural heritage, from the old alleys of Jinan. Born in the 1950s, her hands have kneaded a lifetime of dedication, molding not just dough but also profound human warmth.
她叫高桂英,濟南老巷里的面塑非遺傳承人?!?0后”的一雙手,揉進半輩子光陰,也傳遞著溫暖人間的深情。
When asked how she had mastered her craft, she smoothed her graying temples and replied,"Back then, I practiced the petals of a rose 3,000 times alone."
有人問高老師這手藝咋練成的,她攏了攏鬢角的白發,說:“當年,光玫瑰花的紋路,就捏了3000遍?!?/p>
However, Gao's hands do more than shape dough figurines - they've also shaped destinies. During the wave of layoffs in the 1990s, she set up a dough figurine stand in her community. For 30 unbroken years, she provided free food, shelter and training, empowering about 6,000 apprentices to spread their dough figurine artistry far and wide. Among them, some became cultural heritage inheritors; others opened their own studios.
高桂英這雙手,不光捏面人,還托起過不少人的命數。九十年代下崗潮,她把面案子往社區一擺,連續30年,管吃管住教手藝,幫助6000名弟子帶著面人走遍天涯。弟子中,有的成了非遺傳承人,有的開了工作室。
Retirement didn't slow her down. By the springs, she established a"Kindness Station," advising her apprentices:"Dough figurine art demands patience - steady heart, steady hands."
退休后,高桂英沒歇著,她在泉邊支起“愛心驛站”,并且告誡徒弟們:“捏面人得坐得住,心穩,手就穩?!?/p>
For apprentices facing dire straits, she dipped into her earnings from odd jobs, dough figurine sales and pension to offer both financial aid and spiritual encouragement:"Child, knead your hardships into the dough - we'll rise anew."
有的徒弟生活實在是困難,她拿著自己打工賺的錢、賣面人的錢、退休金一邊給經濟支持,一邊鼓勁:“孩子,把苦日子捏進面團里,咱重新發個芽?!?/p>
For Gao Guiying, money may come and go, but true craftsmanship endures forever. She splits her figurine proceeds twofold: one portion serves as the"startup funds" of her students, while the other flows to under-resourced mountain schools. Nearly two million yuan in donations have pooled like streams to the sea, yet she still dwells in her modest home in the old alley.
對于高桂英來說,錢是身外物,手藝是真本事。她總把賣面人的錢分成兩份,一份給徒弟們當“創業基金”,一份捐給山區學校。近兩百萬善款如細流匯海,可她自己還住著老巷的平房。
Dough figurines convey the warmth of human bonds, and craftsmanship builds dreams. Under her fingers, Sun Wukong rides clouds, and peony petals unfurl layer by layer.
